Overview
Microelectrode arrays let researchers record electrical activity from living cells at high resolution, but commercial arrays carry a significant price barrier. This project developed a lower-cost production pathway so the team could build arrays for extracellular electrophysiology work in-house.
The work combined process development with the practical side of running a project: deadlines, budget, and coordination across a team.
What I did
- Established a $13k lower-cost pathway for creation of a microelectrode array to investigate extracellular electrophysiology.
- Facilitated effective communication while managing project deadlines, budget, and coordination between team members.
- Documented the procedure so the production pathway could be repeated.

Outcome
The production pathway reduced the cost of entering electrophysiology experiments and gave the team a repeatable process for building arrays.
